A Little Pep Talk

Some days, you just need a pep talk.  A few positive, kind words to help you feel like you’re still ok.  Like you can banish the stress and craziness that have taken over your life.  You want reassurance that the world hasn’t fallen off its axis.  You want to feel hope that things will get calmer, kinder, better.  So, today, here are some words to help you get back on that path, to feel positive and hopeful, and to be ready to face the day.  To never surrender.

Aging is hard. Aging demands accepting, or at least acknowledging, mortality. It means facing unwanted change. It can make you want to surrender to the point of giving up and letting life slip away.

It can also mean looking at this time as a gift, a grand opportunity to continue to live life to the fullest. While life circumstances may be different than when you were younger, that doesn’t mean that this time – older life – is any less valid or important or worthwhile, despite what society or the latest marketing might want you to believe. You have something to offer, regardless of age or anything else that others may see as a hindrance.

Don’t let anything stop you. You have contributions to make and joy to experience. Keep going. Look forward. There will be challenges, but there always are in life, no matter your age, your health, your financial situation, or how successful you think you are or aren’t.

This season of life is no different than any of the others you’ve lived through. You can do this. You can make the rest of your life as wonderful – or even more exceptional – than what has already been. We all – you included – have greatness to look forward to – great experiences, great friendships, great gifts to give and receive.

So go out and face the day. It’s your choice to make it a great one.  Have a wonderful time and be a blessing in the world.  And never, ever surrender!
